Two arrested with deer antlers

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and district forest department officials today arrested two suspected smugglers at Jamnigudi area here after rare species of snakes and deer antlers were seized from their possession.

A joint team of 12th battalion of SSB and district forest department arrested the duo from a petrol pump of the area, SSB Deputy Commandant Kumar Sundaram said.

"Both the accused are residents of Shikari basti area under Galgaliya police station of the district," Sundaram said.

"The value of two snakes (red sand boa) has been estimated at Rs 2.25 crore in the international market," he said, adding both the persons have been handed over to the forest department officials.
