Two boys die in two separate accidents in Kashmir

A five-year-old boy drowned in river Jhelum in Anantnag district, while another succumbed to head injuries after being hit by a shooting stone in Kupwara district of Kashmir valley, police said today.

Five-year-old Zafar Ahmad Dar fell into river Jhelum while playing near his house at Batapora village of Khanabal in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

The body was later fished out and handed over to his family, he added.

In another incident, nine-year-old Irshad Ahmad Gakhad was hit by a shooting stone at Kalaroos in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

Gakhad was grazing his cattle near his home at village Shundi when he was hit by a stone, which rolled down from the hillock, on the head.
 

He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to injuries, the spokesman said.
