Two gang members involved in 60 cases arrested

Two members of a gang, wanted in around 60 cases including murder, were arrested from Bahadurgarh town of the district, police said today.

The duo belong to an inter-state gang active in Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi and have 61 criminal cases including -- murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, loot and robbery, registered against them.

On the basis of a tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested Amit Malik alias Bhura and his accomplice Sachin Khokar alias Sonu yesterday from the Naka chowk, they said.

"A secret information was received that Bhura and Sonu along with weapons in a white Sports Utility Vehilce bearing a fake number plate were coming to Bahadurgarh from Delhi through Ghanaur and were on a look out to attempt a major crime in Patiala city," police said.
 

On this information, police during a checking yesterday saw a white SUV and asked its driver to stop it, but the driver speeded up the vehicle with an intention to kill the police personnel, they said.

The vehicle hit one barricade and got stuck up in the second barricade and they were arrested, police said.

Police recovered a 9 mm pistol and a 32 bore pistol along with 12 live cartridges along with two fake Adhaar card, two driving license from their possession.

Bhura was carrying a reward of 5 lakh on his head declared by Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh government, police said.

A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of IPC and further investigations are on, police said.
