Two persons were arrested today for allegedly cheating utensil dealers from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan by issuing them dud cheques, police said.
The accused are identified as Mehul Shah, who uses multiple aliases to dupe the dealers, and Anand Pandey.
Explaining the modus operandi adopted by the duo, police said Pandey used to search internet to gather information about prospective dealers and Shah would fix an appointment with them.
According to police, Shah would identify himself as an owner of various fictitious firm and place orders for steel and household items with traders.
"After taking delivery of orders, he would issue cheques which would get bounced," it said.
The duo have been booked under various sections of the IPC.
