Two held in a cheating case

Two persons, including a student, were today arrested from Malakept area here for allegedly duping 29 people of over Rs 11 lakh on the pretext of providing visas to them to work abroad, police said today.

Chaderghat police arrested Mohammed Abdul Gafoor, a businessman, and his nephew Syed Mukram along with absconding accused Shakeel Shaik, a resident of Mumbai.

One computer, 19 passports and two mobile phones were seized from their possession, they said.

"The trio created fake visas for Malaysia and Saudi Arabia by forging the original names and collected an amount of Rs 11.20 lakh from 29 persons," Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sultan Bazar Division) Ravula Giridhar said.
