Two persons were injured when suspected militants lobbed a grenade on a security vehicle in Bijbehara town on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in south Kashmir this afternoon, police said.

The suspected ultras hurled a grenade on a passing Army vehicle at Goriwan chowk in the highway town of Bijbehara, 47 kms from here, around 2.20 PM, a police officer said.

He said the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the road causing splinter injuries to two pedestrians.

The injured, Ghulam Mohammad Tokhar and Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, were immediately shifted to hospital, the officer said.

He said security forces immediately cordoned off the scene after the blast which sparked panic in the area.

A hunt has been launched to nab the militants, the officer said, adding no one was arrested in connection with the grenade attack as yet.
