: Two police personnel have been suspended on charges of of beating a college student some days back for not wearing a helmet, which is now mandatory.
Special Sub Inspector Govindaraj and constable Solomon attached to Saravanampatti police station had stopped a student two days ago for not wearing a helmet.
A heated argument broke out following which they reportedly manhandled him, police said.
The parents of the student later lodged a complaint with city police commissioner A K Vishwanathan, who ordered senior officials to inquire into the incident.
Both Govindaraj and Solomon were suspended, based on a preliminary inquiry, they said.
