Nepal has formally introduced two-shift working system in its government offices aiming to make civil service more people-oriented to its citizens.
For now, according to Minister for General Administration Lal Babu Pandit, the Department of Passport, Kathmandu District Administration Office, Survey Office, Kathmandu, Foreign Employment Office, Kathmandu, Land Revenue Offices in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur and Bagmati Driving Licence Office, Lalitpur, will provide services from 6am to 6pm
The minister said the government decided to begin two-shift working system to make civil service more people-oriented.
"I urge you all to work sincerely so that service seekers do not face hassles," the minister said.
He also directed officials to maintain transparency while delivering services.
Chief Secretary Leela Mani Paudyal asked officials to make Kathmandu DAO a model office in the country.
Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Ek Narayan Aryal said that despite some difficulties the District administration office started working in two-shifts.
The office has three special desks to provide urgent services such as distribution of citizenship certificates and passports.
The two shift working system will be started in the district administration offices of Morang, Kathmandu, Rupandehi, Banke and Kailali districts.
