Two women run over by speeding car near Bengaluru

Two women were today killed and five others injured when a speeding car ploughed into the pedestrians crossing a road at Hebbagodi near here.

A 59-year-old woman died on the spot and the other victim, aged 35, in the hospital, Bengaluru (Rural) Superintendent of Police Ramesh Bhanot said.

Five injured persons have been admitted to a hospital and were undergoing treatment. Condition of one woman among them was stated to be critical, he said.

The driver had a miraculous escape though his vehicle was badly damaged as it came to a halt after hitting a wayside concrete structure, Bhanot said.
 

"We have arrested the person who was driving the car," he said adding investigations were on.
