Two youths died and another was critically injured in a road accident in Malda district, a police officer said today.
The three youths, belonging to Charlakshmipur village about 10 km from Malda town, had come to Malda to enjoy the Saraswati puja festivities yesterday, the officer said.
They were on their way back to their village when the motorbike on which they were riding without helmets, hit a tree at Shahapur village, the officer said.
Palash Das (32) who was at the wheel, died on the spot, the officer said.
The two other injured youths were rescued by the local people and sent to Malda Medical College and Hospital where Ratan Das (30) succumbed to his injuries.
The condition of Dipankar Haldar (32) who was admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital, was stated to be critical, hospital sources said.
