The strike by government employees in Uttarakhand came to an end after over a fortnight today with the state government conceding most of their demands, including three promotions during service time.
"We have ended our strike with Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna agreeing to concede most of our demands," Uttarakhand Rajya Karmachari Sanyukta Parisahd President Thakur Prahlad Singh said after a meeting with Bahuguna.
He said the state government has conceded their demand for three promotions during service time and has also agreed in principle to hike their grade pay from Rs 2,800 to Rs 4,200 as in case of secretariat employees.

The state government employees were on strike for over a fortnight since October 17 in support of their demands affecting work in different departments across Uttarakhand.
An official statement here said besides ending the strike the agitating employees have promised to work for two additional hours daily to clear the backlog of work.
