A 103-year-old man and a 91-year-old woman in the UK have become the world's oldest newlyweds after tying the knot in a small ceremony in which the beaming bride was seen pushing the groom around in his wheelchair.

Together the newlyweds, George Kirby and Doreen Luckie, have a combined age of 194 years.

The wedding took place yesterday on Kirby's 103rd birthday in front of 50 family and friends, as well as a representative from Guinness World Records.

"It's about time, really. Doreen keeps me young and I can definitely say we're going to spend the rest of our lives together," said Kirby outside the venue at a hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Kirby was in a wheelchair following a recent fall but had a huge grin on his face as Luckie pushed him around.

"I was a bit giddy. It was such a lovely day and great to see everyone," Luckie was quoted as saying by 'express.Co.Uk'.

The pair - who have seven children, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren between them - have been together for 27 years.

Kirby met Luckie when he was 76 and just divorced, while Luckie had become a widow three years earlier, in 1988.
