Under-trial prisoner escapes from court complex

An under-trial prisoner, facing charges under narcotic drugs act, today escaped from the police custody when he was brought to a local court.

Sanjiv Kumar, alias Bhola, gave police the slip and disappeared from the court complex, police sources said here.

Sanjiv was facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Superintendent of District Jail Ajmer Singh said.

He was brought to the court for production before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hoshiarpur Poonam Bansal.

Police said a manhunt has been launched to trace the accused.
