Press Trust of India Puducherry
: Pondicherry University management should hold talks with students agitating over their demands, to end the current unrest in the campus, the Puducherry State Students parents welfare Association said here today.

Association president V Bala said in a release here that the students had been demanding settlement of their pleas without delay for nearly a week.It was regrettable that PU had not held talks with them, he said and alleged that some anti social elements were also intimidating and assaulting them.

Bala said the association would mobilise the support of all students in Puducherry from tomorrow to procure justice to the students of the University.

The students have been on warpath for the last few days, demanding among other things replacement of Vice-Chancellor Chandra Krishnamoorthy for her alleged nepotism and administrative lapses. They also want steps to improve the hostel facilities.

AIADMK's local unit secretary M Purushothaman, MLA, has also expressed anguish over the delay on the part of the university to find a solution to end the stir and said the demands of the students should be settled.

He also objected to alleged use of police force in a bid to quell the agitation of the students.
