Uttar Pradesh government today said that it would consider a new policy to erect electric poles replacing bamboo poles for providing electricity to consumers.
"We will devise a new policy to provide regular electric poles in place of bamboo poles for supplying electricity. All the legal connections will be given through these poles and strict action would be taken against the illegal connections," Cabinet Minister Shivpal Yadav during question hour in state assembly.
The question was raised by BJP member Shyamdeo Roy Chowdhury, who claimed that bamboo poles were used to supply electricity and that could prove dangerous.
The minister in his written reply earlier said that no connection was provided to consumers through bamboo poles, but later other members too pointed out the practice he said that the matter would be looked into and new policy would be devised.
