UP local body poll: Two injured in clashes between Cong, BSP

On the second day of campaigning of the local bodies poll, workers of the and clashed in Birajpur villager here, in which two villagers suffered bullet injuries, the police said.

Deputy Superintendent Police Vinay Singh Chauhan said that though the situation in the village is peaceful, police personnel have been deployed to thwart any untoward incident.

"Two villagers received bullet injuries in the clash between and members at the village," he said.

The injured have been sent to SN Medical college in Agra for better treatment, the officer said, adding that four persons have been arrested.

Police said that trouble started when the candidate was campaigning and a supporter allegedly passed a remark.

It lead to an altercation which turned violent, they said.

A case has been lodged against eight people at the Highway police station based on complaint, the officer said.
