UP: Police station in-charge dies of cardiac arrest

The in-charge of a police station in Deoria district has died of a cardiac arrest, the police said today.

"On the intervening night of August 23 and August 24, the health of S D Bharti (56), the in-charge of the Ikauna police station, suddenly deteriorated. He was taken to a PHC in Barhalganj, where the doctors declared him dead," an official statement issued by the Uttar Pradesh police said today.

Prima facie investigations indicate a heart attack to be the cause behind the Bharti's death, police said, adding the body has been sent for post mortem.

"The police station in Ikauna is currently filled with water due to the floods," they added.
