The Uttar Pradesh government today decided that the Food Security Act would be implemented in the state in three phases.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Cabinet minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya and senior officials were present in the meeting.
In the first phase, the scheme would be implemented in 24 districts, in the second 26 and in the third 25 districts would be covered, an official release issued here said.
The scheme would benefit 15.21 crore population of the state. Under the scheme, the poor would be provided food grains at subsidised rates.
