Crop protection solutions firm UPL today posted a marginal decline in net profit for the quarter ended March at Rs 737 crore, against Rs 742 crore reported in the same quarter last year.
UPL's total income grew by 5 per cent to Rs 5,809 crore during the quarter under review, compared with Rs 5,537 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2016-17, the company said in a release issued here.
The firm's board has also recommended a dividend of Rs 8 per equity share.
UPL's shares closed 2.65 per cent up at Rs 754.25 on the BSE today.

Amazon Publishing today announced a global deal for the next six books by popular Indian author Chetan Bhagat.

The deal includes three fiction and three non-fiction titles by Chetan Bhagat and Amazon Publishing to publish these books globally in print, eBook and audio formats, with the first title being published in October 2018, it said in a statement.
Westland, an Amazon company, will distribute the print editions in India and all the books would also be available in multiple language translation versions.

Fresh produce importer IG International today said it has introduced Pinata apples in India in association with Stemilt Growers, the leading North American pip fruit supplier.
Pinata apples are harvested in mid-October at Stemilt's Washington orchards and in demand across the globe, these red and orange colored apples are available from November till May each year, a release issued here said.
IG International imports 31 global varieties of fruits from across 22 countries and uses its distribution network to cater to a pan-India market.
