According to the MeT office here, temperatures breached the normal level in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly and Moradabad divisions.
Allahabad was the hottest place in the state, recording a maximum of 45.8 degrees Celsius.
The MeT office has predicted that severe heat wave conditions would continue to prevail in many parts of the state during the next 48 hours.
