: Tamil Nadu Government today announced that noted industrialist V G Santhosam has been selected for the Thiruvallur Award this year.
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has announced the winners of the Thiruvalluvar, Thanthai Periyar and Ambedkar awards instituted by the government, an official release said.
For the Thiruvalluvar Award, V G Santhosam has been selected, the release said, adding V R Vengan, Dharmapuri, has been selected for the Thanthai Periyar Award, it said.

For the Ambedkar Award A Ponnuswamy has been selected, while professor Parvadha Regina Pappa from Karaikudi has been selected for the Perarignar Anna Award, it said.
Dr R Venkatasamy has been selected for Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Award, while Kavignar Ponnadiyan for the Mahakavi Bharathiyar Award.
V Renuka Devi has been selected for Paventhar Bharathidasan Award, while, Dinamani Editor, K Vaidhyanathan for Thiru Vi. Ka Award and Tamil scholar R K Rasaram the K A P Viswanatham Award.
The awards would be presented to the scholars at a function at the University of Madras. The awards carry a cheque of Rs one lakh, a gold sovereign and a certificate, it said.
