Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh hoisted the tricolour on a flag mast said to the tallest in Uttar Pradesh at 211 feet in the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherji park here.
The flag was hoisted on the eve of Republic Day.
The height of the pole was 211 feet, and the length of the tricolour 60 feet and its width 40 feet, senior BJP leader and councillor Rajendra Tyagi said.

Congress councillor Zakir Saifi today, however, accused Singh of insulting the national flag by hoisting it a day before the Republic Day.
