MDMK leader Vaiko and his supporters today staged a road blockade near Aruppukottai protesting alleged impolite bheaviour of a police sub-inpector after stopping a car in his convoy.
Aruppukottai RDO Udhayakumar along with other officials rushed to the spot and persuaded Vaiko to end the agitation, which affected traffic for about an hour, officials said.
According to party workers, MDMK's North Chennai District secretary Deepan and State Youth wing Deputy Secretary Tamil Manickam were travelling in the car as part of Vaiko's convoy when Sub-Inspector on election duty stopped the vehicle and allegedly spoke impolitely and in contemptuous terms.
Vaiko, whose party is part of the BJP-led alliance in the state, is contesting the April 24 Lok Sabha polls from Virudhunagar constituency.
