Veteran labour leader remembered

Chief Minister of Puducherry N Rangasamy paid homage at the statue of the veteran labour leader and freedom fighter V Subbiah on the occasion of his 21st death anniversary today.

Electricity Minister T Thiagarajan, legislators and delegates of various organisations also paid tributes at the statue.

A delegation of CPI leaders comprising National Council Secretary of the party, D Raja, member of CPI Central Executive Committee Dr K Narayana, party's Puducherry unit secretary R Viswanathan and cadres also paid floral tributes at the statue of Subbiah.

Secretary of the Communist party of India in pre merger days in Puducherry, Subbiah led various labour movements to bring in eight hour work schedule for the working class.
