Odisha vigilance directorate today registered five cases as per the modalities of the recommendation of the Taskforce in connection with multiple allotments of plots, lands and houses under Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), officials said.

The Taskforce headed by senior IAS officer Taradutt had earlier this year suggested to Odisha government for cancellation of total 921 allotments of plots and houses by the CDA under discretionary quota, which were made since January 1995 on the basis of false declarations in affidavits.

While both CDA and BDA had initiated inquiries against the beneficiaries of multiple allotments, the matter was handed over to the vigilance directorate for investigation and necessary action amid demands by various forums to hand over the matter to CBI.

Orissa High Court is currently adjudicating over the petition, that was converted to a PIL and sought CBI enquiry.

The vigilance directorate registered five cases against an unspecified number of persons under several sections of PC Act and IPC, the sources added.

According to sources the cases have been registered and investigations are on against both CDA and BDA employees and some private persons.
