Delhi Health Minister A K Walia today held a meeting with senior official of concerned departments discussing steps against outbreak of water and vector borne diseases during monsoon.
Walia said the current weather condition is conducive for outbreak of malaria, dengue, cholera and typhoid and the citizens must take precautions to keep the disease causing viruses at bay.
Walia asked the officials to take all necessary measures to conyain water and vector-borne diseases.
He said that as per reports of the Directorate of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, various areas in city were found to have high breeding of aedes mosquitoes which cause dengue.
The Health Minister said degnue virus was detected in seven localities including Harkesh Nagar, Narela, Paharganj, Sant Nagar, Deragaon, Seemapuri and Mandigaon.
Walia said this year seven cases of dengue and 26 cases of malaria have been reported till date as compared to 5 and 80 cases during the same period last year.
