Walkathon to stress importance of local cereals, millets

: A 'Walkathon' to create on the importance of local varieties of cereals and millets and food security in general was held here today by DHANAM, an NGO playing a key role in preserving water sources.

The rally stressed the importance of a variety of nutritious local foodgrains like ragi, corn and the need to protect them(Indian varieties), as they are more nutritious than hybrid.

Mayor Rajan Chellappa and Corporation Commissioner Kiran Kuralawere among those who took part at the rally.
