Rain waters entered into over 100 houses in nearby Tirupur, which has experienced heavy rains since past midnight yesterday.
The city recorded eight MM rain, which started lashing around 1 AM and continued till morning, police said.
The rain water gushed into nearly 150 houses in low lying areas, throwing the lives out of gear, with utensils and other household articles flowing out.
Meanwhile, lakhs of T shirts and banyan stored in factories and outlets in SIPCOT industrial park were also damaged due to the rain, they said.
Protesting against the negligence of the administration, people came to the streets and staged demonstrations, police said.
Mwanwhile, a report from Erode said the district received very heavy rains since Sunday night.
Due to the rain the Perumpallam odai running across the Erode town is flooded.
