Wheat advanced for the fourth straight day and prices added Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on persistent demand from flour mills against tight supply.
However, rice basmati ended lower.
Traders said, persistent demand from flour mills and a firming trend at futures trade kept wheat prices higher.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) and wheat (desi) rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 2,120-2,130 and Rs 2,750-3,050 per quintal, respectively. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 2,140-2,170 per 90 kg.
Maida also edged up to Rs 1,175-1,185 from previous levels of Rs 1,150-1,170 per 50 kg in line with wheat trend.
On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety eased to Rs 6,400-6,500 and Rs 5,000-6,200 against last close of Rs 6,500-6,600 and Rs 5200-6300 per quintal, respectively.
Other bold grains like, bajra and maize slipped to Rs 1,450-1,465 and Rs 1,580-1,590 from previous levels of Rs 1,475-1,490 and Rs 1,590-1,610 per quintal respectively on reduced offtake by consuming industries.
