The roadmap laid down for the farm sector by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be implemented successfully, newly appointed Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala said today.

An elected Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, he took charge of the office along with Jharkhand MP and tribal leader Sudarshan Bhagat, also a minister of state for agriculture.

"Modiji has laid down a clear roadmap for agriculture sector. Already work is in progress in that direction. I have been given the opportunity to contribute in this sector and I will give my best," Rupala said.

61-year old Rupala was the agriculture minister in Modi-led state government in Gujarat.

Bhagat, who has been shifted to agriculture from rural development ministry in the recent cabinet rejig, also spoke about his new responsibility.

"Our efforts would be to raise agriculture production and address farmers issues and ensure their welfare," he said.

He also said there is more scope in the dairy sector and more work is to be done in this area.

Now, along with incumbent MoS, S S Ahluwalia, the Agriculture Ministry has been strengthened with three Ministers of State under Radha Mohan Singh.

"With efforts of three MoS, we will speed up implementation of all new schemes," Singh said while welcoming them.
