The Uttar Pradesh government will deal with anyone taking law in their hands severely as 'Yogi raj' and not 'jungle raj' prevails there, its spokesperson Sidharth Nath Singh said here today.

The remarks by Singh, who is also a Cabinet minister in the Adityanath government came amid threats of violence by Rajput groups against the Hindi film's release.

"We will not allow anyone to take law in their hands. There is one law...that is the Yogi raj and there is no more jungle raj in UP. Anybody taking law in their hands will be dealt with severely," said Singh.

Rajput groups have taken to the streets and even resorted to violence to protest against the movie which, they allege, distorts facts and defame legendary queen Padmavati.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film was released today in theatres across the country the country under tight security and amid simmering tensions.
