Wipro Chairman Azim Premji today met Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and discussed issues relating to the city and areas in which his foundation can collaborate with the government.

Premji, evincing his interest in controlling air pollution in the city and the state, said Wipro is ready to associate with the government and requested the Chief Minister to appoint a nodal officer for this purpose, a release from the chief minister's Office said.

The chief minister assured him that additional chief secretary of ForestDepartment, Government of Karnataka, will be appointed as the nodal officer.

Premji during the meeting is said to have shown keen interest in partnering with government to implement programmes on 'zero budget natural farming' as they did in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Kumaraswamy said "He (Premji) discussed about ways in which his foundation can join hands with the government to implement zero budget natural farming that was announced in the budget.

We will announce the modalities of it in the days to come."

Premji also raised the issue of the BBMP's (city civic body) project to widen the Sarjapur road that has Wipro and other large tech companies.

"In 4 months, the 7.5 km road work will be completed. I have asked our officials to take necessary steps in this regard," Kumaraswamy said.
