Woman crushed to death in Jammu

An unidentified woman was today crushed to death by a speeding crane on the BC Road area of Jammu city, a police officer said.

An over speeding crane hit a woman following which the panicked driver left the vehicle in moving state and fled from the spot, due to which the crane crushed the woman to death before hitting few other vehicles, the officer said.

He said that a case has been registered and crane seized, they said, adding that manhunt has been launched to nab the driver.

Meanwhile the eyewitnesses alleged that soon after the accident they informed the police, but it took more than 45 minutes for the police to reach the spot and send the body of the deceased to the hospital for postmortem and identification.
