Woman dead, husband injured as bus hits motorbike

A 30-year-old woman was killed and her husband was seriously injured when the motorbike they were riding was hit by a state transport bus near Gopalpur village in the district today, police said.

A Telangana Road Transport bus heading for Karimnagar from Peddapalli first hit a bullock-cart and then the motorbike coming from the opposite direction.

T Manemma (30), resident of Iterajpalli village, died on the spot. She was riding pillion behind her husband Pochamallu (35) who was seriously injured. He has been admitted to government hospital at Karimnagar.

Two bullocks were also killed in the accident.

Police took the bus driver in custody. A case of rash and negligent driving was registered. Further probe is on.
