Woman fatally run over by truck

A 25-year-old woman was today crushed to death under a truck while two others were injured near here, police said.

Deepika, a resident of nearby Arora colony in Hadiabad sub-town here, was going to a hospital for getting medicines for one-and-a-half-year-old daughter with her when the accident occurred, SHO Bharat Masih Ladhar said.

She was riding pillion on a scooter which was being driven by her father-in-law Sushil Kumar, he said, adding when they were on Gandwan road near Hadiabad, a truck hit the scooter from behind.

Deepika fell down on the road and the truck passed over her head, killing her on the spot, he said.
 

Her father-in-law and her daughter sustained injuries in the accident, he said.

Meanwhile, the truck driver fled from the scene, he said.

A case was registered against the driver on the charge of death by negligence, he said.

The body was handed over to the victim's family after its postmortem in the civil hospital here, he said.
