Woman found murdered at her residence

A 25-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Panchwati area of the district this afternoon, police said today.

Deceased has been identified as Preeti.

However, Preeti's father has alleged that her husband Vaibhav, who is still on the run, had killed her daughter for dowry.

According to police, Vaibhav took a rented accommodation ten days ago in Panchwati area.

"Based on complaint filed by woman's father Naresh Gupta, a case of dowry death has been registered against Vaibhav at Kothwali police station. We have launched a manhunt to arrest him," said a senior police officer.
 

As per preliminary investigation, Preeti was strangulated to death, he said, adding "We are awaiting her postmortem report to ascertain the cause.
