Woman IPS officer scales highest mountain peak of Indonesia

IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh Aparna Kumar scaled the highest mountain peak of Indonesia, Carstensz having the height of 4,884 mts.

"Kumar scaled the mountain on November 7 and unfurled the Indian and UP Police flag on the peak. She is the first lady IPS officer of the state to have achieved this feet," IG Law and Order, A Satish Ganesh said today.

The expedition which had started on October 30 had members from the United States and Canada, the IG said, adding, that this peak is among the most difficult ones to scale.

Earlier, Aparna had successfully scaled Mt Kilimanjaro the highest peak in Africa, he said.
 

The DGP of the state police A L Bannerji has congratulated Aparna for her achievement saying that she has made the state police and women officers proud and they will draw inspiration from it.
