A 24-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husbandas her family members failed to fulfil the dowry demand, police said today.
According to the FIR, the woman, Poonam, was yesterday poisoned to death by her husband Yatendra of Laxmanpur village here for dowry.
Her father Sukhvir Singh complained that his daughter got married to the accused two years ago and since then he has been demanding Rs one lakh as dowry.
On the basis of Sukhvir's complaint, the FIR was registered under sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act and IPC including 304B (dowry death), police said.
No arrest has been made so far in connection with the incident, they said.
