A woman was killed by a wild elephant today in Assam's Chirang district along the Indo-Bhutan border, forest officials said.

A wild female elephant strayed from Manas National Park along the border to number one Dangshiapara village near Kuklung Reserved Forest and went on a rampage.

The elephant attacked the woman's house and trampled her, seriously injuring the female.

The injured, identified as 37-year old Saiful Nessa, was rushed to the local health centre where she succumbed to her wounds.
