Woman pilgrim dies in accident

In a freak accident, a woman pilgrim from Bhutan died on the spot after falling from her van near Sethupathy Arts College in this town today.

Munna Sharma (50) had come along with 20 pilgrims from Bhutan, Kashmir and other states and was on way to Rameswaram temple from Madurai air port when van driver lost control over the vehicle while overtaking a motor bike, police said.

As the driver applied brake, Sharma, who was seated at the front seat, was hurled out of the van, through the wind screen.

She died on the spot due to neck break. Sharma's daughter Anna Poorna and others travelling in the van escaped unhurt.
