Eight sophisticated pistols and ammunition were recovered from a youth travelling on Jamalpur Express at Burdwan station today.
Pandab Kumar Singh was arrested after eight 9 mm pistols, 16 magazines and 70 rounds of ammunition were recovered from a bag he was carrying as Singh got down from a reserved compartment of the Howrah-bound train, Railway police said.
Singh said he had brought the consignment from Munger in Bihar and the arms and ammunition were meant for Cuttack.
GRP had earlier also on several occasions seized arms consignments from the same train. The seizures were made when the train halted at Burdwan junction.
