Youth catches pickpocket, stabbed

A 25-year-old youth was stabbed in a moving bus amid scores of passengers after he caught a thief while stealing his mobile phone from his pocket in Ambedkar Nagar area.

The victim, Jitendra Kumar, who lives with his friends in Maidangarhi and a native of Bihar, has suffered injuries in his stomach. However, his condition is said to be stable after being treated in AIIMS trauma centre.

"As the bus passed through Ambedkar Nagar area in the morning, Jitendra suddenly felt some movement in his pocket. He checked to find a youth trying to pull his mobile phone out of his pocket. Jitendra caught him and told his friends who began raising an alarm.
 

"Two other passengers, however, suddenly rushed to the suspect's rescue and warned Jitendra and his friends of dire consequences if he did not let go off the suspect," said a police official.

Police said that the victim held on to the suspect after which one of his aides pulled out a knife and stabbed him.

All the three accused jump off the moving bus after the attack. Based on complaint filed by Kumar, police have registered a case against the unknown persons.

"We have registered a case against the accused and further investigation is on," police also said.
