While demand for prohibition in Tamil Nadu gaining momentum, seeking protection to the consumers and liquor outlets in Tamil Nadu, a youth, in 'high spirits' today climbed atop a cell tower near Pollachi in the district.

On information that a youth has climbed the tower, which has become a trend now, at Shoolakkal, Vadakkipalayam police rushed to the spot and brought the down, police said.

On questioning, the youth, identified as Kuppusamy, asked police to provide protection to the alcohol consumers and also Tasmac liquor outlets across the State, they said.

Since he was under influence of liquor, police issued a strict warning and sent him from the area, which witnessed some anxious moments for nearly one hour.
