A 20-year-old youth from Hyderabad, holidaying in Goa, fell off the decks of an off-shore casino here and drowned in a river, police said today.

The body of Shiv Dhanush Reddy was found this afternoon by Goa marine police about a kilometre away from the vessel, police said.

Reddy, a techie from Hyderabad, had gone to Casino Carnival, an off-shore casino anchored in the river alongside Panaji city on Saturday.

A complaint lodged with the police stated that Reddy slipped off from the second deck of the ship and fell into the river.

"The deck was slippery due to heavy rains," police spokesman John Aguiyar said.

The victim's elder brother, who was also at the casino, jumped in the river to rescue him but could not.

Police inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai said an offence has been registered against the casino management for negligence and investigations were going on.
