Youth murdered during scuffle over cricket match

An 18-year-old youth was allegedly murdered by a group of people during a tussle over a cricket match held in Belhar Kala village under Bakhira police circle here today.

Superintendent of police, VP Srivastav said a match was underway in the village when a fight broke out between the victim identified as Deepu and some other players from a rival team.

In the melee, the deceased was beaten up with a bat and knifed, leaving him seriously injured, the SP said adding that he was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to injuries following treatment.

A case of murder has been registered against unknown persons and the accused will be arrested soon, the SP added.
