A youth today set himself on fire and later embraced a BSP leader during the shooting of a TV poll programme here, police sources said.
During Janmanch programme of Doordarshan at Tikonia Park here this evening, the youth Durgesh Kumar Singh poured petrol and set himself on fire and embraced BSP leader Kamrujamma Fauji, they said.
Police said that Durgesh and Fauji sustained serious burn injuries in the incident and were taken to the district hospital from where they were referred to trauma centre at Lucknow.
Durgesh is said to be a resident of Mau district and was staying in a hotel near Tikonia park, they said, adding that the cause of the youth's action was not yet clear.
