Zinc down by 0.3% on overseas trend

Speculators trimmed positions amid a weak trend in base metals overseas and subdued demand at domestic markets

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc prices drifted by 0.27% to Rs 127 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions amid a weak trend in base metals overseas and subdued demand at domestic markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in February shed 35 paise, or 0.27%, to Rs 127 per kg in a business turnover of 176 lots.

The metal for delivery in March also fell by a similar margin to trade at Rs 127.85 per kg in 267 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall of zinc futures to weak trend in base metals in global market ahead of manufacturing data from China, the world's biggest consumer, and sluggish demand in spot markets.
