Zinc futures rose by 0.59% to Rs 127.60 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions amid a firm global trend and better domestic demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month contracts edged up by 75 paise, or 0.59%, to Rs 127.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 243 lots.
Also, the metal for delivery in March traded higher by 65 paise, or 0.51%, to Rs 128.25 per kg in a turnover of 67 lots.
Market analysts said besides improved demand in the spot market, firming trend in copper and other base metals overseas mainly led to rise in zinc prices at futures trade here.
