Zinc prices softened by 0.11 per cent to Rs 180.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits amid easing demand in the spot market.

However, a firm trend overseas capped the gains.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July declined by 20 paise, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 180.90 per kg in a business turnover of 332 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in August contracts shed 5 paise, or 0.03 per cent, to Rs 180.85 per kg in 26 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by participants at prevailing levels, fall in demand from consuming industries in the physical market weighed on zinc prices in futures trade.
