Zinc futures climbed 0.46 per cent to Rs 206.90 per kg today as traders created speculative positions amid positive global cues and uptick in demand at the domestic spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in the current month contract traded higher by 95 paise, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 206.90 per kg in a business turnover of 1,014 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in July edged up by 85 paise, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 206.90 per kg in 69 lots.

Marketmen attributed the rise in zinc futures to a firm trend in base metals overseas and pick up in demand at the domestic spot markets.
